INFORMATION FOR ATTENDING LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Dear Aikido student (local and abroad) - for your convenience, it is important that you read the following Seminar and General Information while visiting South Africa / Cape Town / Paarl.

1. WELCOME

Thank you for attending AIKIDO SOUTH AFRICA’s 10th Anniversary Seminar. The Seminar is open to all Aikido students irrespective of affiliation, and commemorates the 2009 establishment of ASA by Yoji Fujimoto Shihan and his longstanding student Elroy Goliath.

The Seminar will be hosted in the CR Sport Centre of the renowned Gimnasium High School in Paarl, Western Cape - South Africa. The venue is well equipped for sporting events and has ample shower and dressing facilities for participants attending the Seminar. Visitors with vehicles enter through a security gate with around the clock security.

 2. ACCOMMODATION

The town of Paarl has a fine selection of accommodation types for all visitors. For convenience and to save costs for Seminar participants, a special arrangement was made with Gimnasium High School. Accommodation is available in the on-premise hostel at R250 per person per night (Breakfast included). Please support this option. Room configurations will be confirmed on arrival. Indicate your preference when registering on-line.

3. REGISTRATION

It is important that all participating students timeously register for the Seminar on-line. This will facilitate more efficient Event planning for the Organizing Committee. The registration process will take ± 5 minutes to complete, assuring you of your place at the Seminar and informing the Planning Committee of your preferences or requirements.

Go to www.aikidosa.co.za and select ‘EVENTS’. Click ‘Register’ for the December 2019 Seminar with Osawa Sensei. Payment can be made by EFT or in cash on the day of registration.

4. TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT

Visitors who do not have their own transport will on request be collected from the airport and returned. Indicate this requirement during your on-line registration and provide your flight details.

5. SEMINAR FEES AND PAYMENTS

The Seminar Fee structure is as follows (all Affilliations):

  • Full Seminar (R Travaglini & Osawa Sensei, 4-8 Dec’19):   R1400 (€90)
  • Osawa Sensei only (6-8 Dec’19):                                        R1100 (€70)
  • Day rate:                                                                            R800 ((€50)

6. INVITATION LETTER (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

The South African Embassy in your country might require a Letter of Invitation to visit South Africa. Should you require such, indicate this by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

It is important that you provide the following information:

  • Physical address of the South African Embassy you are dealing with in your city
  • Period you plan to visit South Africa
  • Full names and surname
  • Citizenship (which country)
  • Place and date of birth
  • Passport number
    • Issuing authority
    • Place of issue and Date of issue
    • Expiration Date:        

You will receive an official signed invitation letter within 24 hours to your email address.

7. SEMINAR PROGRAMME

The Seminar Programme is as follows: 

Table scheduleSenior Kyu / Dan gradings will be conducted over the duration of the Seminar. ASA students eligible for their grading examinations should indicate such during registration.

8. SOCIAL EVENING/DINNER WITH OSAWA SHIHAN (7 DECEMBER’19)

On the Saturday evening (19:30), participating students and their partners will share a social evening with Osawa Shihan at the prestigious D’Olyfboom Estate (dress code - smart casual). The evening will include welcome drinks and a 3-course meal. Please come and join us for an unforgettable evening!

A reminder to indicate your dinner attendance during on-line registration. Cost for the dinner will be R250 (€15) per person which will include your wine at the table. A cash-bar will also be available for additional options. Do indicate your attendance and also if you will be accompanied by a partner.

9. COMMEMORATIVE T-SHIRT
